Spiritual Growth

Every spiritual journey starts with a commitment to learn who you really are and what you’re actually capable of accomplishing. We believe that it is God’s Will that every person live a happy, healthy and prosperous life. The way to that life is through the manifestation of your unique divine gifts. Through our Spiritual Mastery Process, we help you tear down the mental strongholds that keep you from expressing the spiritual giant you were designed to be.

Understanding Principles Church is a teaching ministry geared toward meeting the needs of the total man/woman. We are among the mighty forces at work today to change man’s thoughts about God.

Spirit Preneur (noun)

An entrepreneur who studies spiritual principles for the purpose of using them to run, grow, and operate their business. For the Spirit Preneur, the pursuit of business success becomes an adventure in faith, a stepping out into the great unknown to allow what has never been done to come through them.

Spiritual Entrepreneurship

How to Align Spirituality and Career

At Understanding Principles, we embrace a practical Christianity that covers your entire life not simply being a churchgoer on Sunday. We teach and practice a 7-day a week spirituality.

Spirit isn’t just concerned with my soul’s salvation but also with my soul’s evolution. A good part of that evolution is driven by the work I choose to do — whether I’m simply working a job or I’m pursuing a career or building a business.

The same spiritual principles that work in a health situation or a financial situation, apply when it comes to my career or business.

Spiritual Gift Assessment

Omnipresence of God
God is All There is

Many people approach their work or their business from the perspective of not enough. “There’s only so much market share available.” “If Susie gets promoted, then there’s no room for me at the top.” “The economy is bad therefore, my earnings are capped or influenced.” When I apply the first principle, I realize that there are no limits on my career or business. It can grow or get as fabulous as I’m willing to allow it. I take my eyes off of what appears to be limited and focus instead on the Presence of God, which is everywhere and evenly present. Opportunity comes from God. Therefore, opportunity is like God — everlasting, eternal, always lavish and wonderful, freely given. If I am viewing my career or business as limited, small or not enough, then I am not applying spiritual principle. To apply spiritual principle is to change how I am looking at what is before me.

Humankind is Divine
Simply Put, We Come From God

Therefore we are like our Source — unlimited, eternal, powerful and unstoppable. To apply this spiritual principle to your career or business means to expand your self image, to dream a bigger dream for yourself, to recognize that where you are right now is not a stopping point but rather a turning point.

Value and Power of Thought
My Thoughts Have Power.

To apply this principle, I must recognize that my thoughts create my world. The career that I have -- the business that I have -- are all a function of the quality of my thinking. Improve my thinking and my career or business must follow suit. I can only get out of myself according to the degree that I’m willing to think big, to think creatively, to imagine lavishly. Opportunity is eternal and unlimited, but it is the quality of my thinking that determines what I can take advantage of.

Practicing the Presence
We are called to abide in the Presence of God.

That doesn’t mean spending your days 24/7 in the prayer position or in a spiritual center. To apply this principle is to realize that no matter where I am, I am always in the Presence of Spirit. Therefore, no matter what the circumstance appears to be, God is with me. Spirit responds to my recognition of It and me calling on It. So before a big meeting, I step away to pray and connect with the Presence. During a brainstorming session with a colleague, I silently acknowledge Spirit as my idea generator. In times of overwhelm, I remind myself that Spirit knows how to manage this moment and is guiding me to the right and true solution that positions me for the greatest growth.

Law of Demonstration
This principle says “like begets like.

It’s truly a call to self-reflection. We must look at our results to examine whether we are truly following the above principles. Our results are an unfailing witness for how we have applied principle. We may feel that we’ve applied that principle of God is all there is but upon self reflection, we may discover places where fear was our driver, not God. This type of assessment is not externally imposed but rather internally revealed. I cannot look at someone and say they are not applying spatial principle. Only they can examine themselves to know whether they have lived up to God’s standard for their life. To apply this principle is to build a daily practice of self examination where you think about the results you’re getting in your career or business and challenge yourself to learn more into spiritually principled living.

I Want to Experience More Love in My Life

In May 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General released an advisory highlighting the public health crisis of loneliness, isolation, and lack of connection. “Our epidemic of loneliness and isolation has been an underappreciated public health crisis that has harmed individual and societal health,” the report stated. Loneliness is not simply about being alone – it’s a deeper void within the spirit that can only be healed from within.

As Dr. Eric Butterworth reminds us, “Loneliness comes, not because we haven’t found the right friends, but because we haven’t found ourselves…Before we can do much about a relationship with another person, we must first form a good relationship with ourselves.”

At UP Church, we are committed to helping you deepen your understanding of yourself– your thoughts, your attitudes, and your relationship with who you truly are. We encourage you to reflect: How do you feel about yourself when you’re alone? How do you respond to your own mistakes? Is it difficult for you to speak kindly about yourself in front of others?

Love is not something to be found; it’s not about finding the right person but rather being the right person. Until we grasp this truth, we will continue to place unrealistic expectations on others, believing that happiness and fulfillment will come when we meet the “right” person. What if the soulmate you’ve been searching for is you?

Your relationship with you is the blueprint for your relationship with everyone else. When you learn to treat you with gentleness, tenderness, and love, you will find those qualities reflected in your experiences and in the people you encounter.
